Better Homes And Gardens Gingerbread Farm

This 300m2 large vegetable garden is the result of many days of renovation and care by Ms. Yen Phuong (Quang Ninh) that makes everyone admire and crave.

Dream clean fruit and vegetable farm

From a young age, she did not know   whatgrowing vegetables was, but Yen Phuong (born in 1985, currently living in Mong Cai city, Quang Ninh) was still determined to do it.

She shared that when she had a small family, she herself was more aware of the quality of food for her members, especially her four young children. Worried about the reality of vegetables and fruits of unknown origin, affecting the health of her family, Phuong dreams of having her own garden, so that she cangrow cleanvegetables by herself .

Understanding her dream, Phuong's husband realized his dream when he bought an additional piece of land next to the house her family is living in with an area of 300m2, to build a cleanvegetable garden . After 2 years, her and her husband's efforts have paid off.

The garden has an ideal area of up to 300m2, so Ms. Yen Phuong came up with the idea of dividing the garden into specialized cells: 1 plot specializing ingrowing  seasonalvegetables , 1 plot specializing in growing climbing plants, 1 planting plot. fruit trees, 1 cell to build a birdhouse, a chicken coop to collect eggs, provide food for the family.

After 2 years, the garden was covered with green vegetables and sweet fruits.

"What I like most is the family garden following the garden-pond-barn model. My wife and I came from the countryside, when we built our house, we had the idea of realizing a part of the countryside right in the house in the middle of the leading city of the country," Phuong said.

However, at first, due to inexperience, Phuong also faced many difficulties in growing vegetables  , many times sowing seeds but no germination. The soil in the garden is quite barren, mainly clay and gravel, so it took her a lot of time and effort to renovate.

With the determination not to give up for the family's health. Phuong goes online to read articles sharing experiences aboutgrowing cleanvegetables at everyone's home, learns about vegetables, where to provide quality and reputable seeds and fertilizers.

Gradually, with her enthusiasm and efforts, the day "picked sweet fruit" came. The garden of "vegetables, tubers and fruits" is lush all year round, making friends and relatives who visit all admire her cool hands.

For the past two years, her family has not had to buy vegetables from the market.

The mother of four revealed that, for two years now, when she has a garden, her family doesn't have to buy vegetables at the market, eggs, chicken, and pigeons are enough for a family of six to eat.

What I like most is that every time it comes to a meal, it only takes a few steps to have enough processed food, rest assured to enjoy home meals.

Experience in growing clean vegetables, raising poultry to grow fast

Phuong and her husband traveled to the countryside to buy rice husks, animal manure mixed with earthworms, coir, and bean residues so that the garden soil could have more nutrients.

Phuong also makes use of discarded items in the kitchen such as fruit peels, eggshells, and leftover vegetables, mixed with trichoderma mushrooms to compost and then mixed with water to water the plants.

To limit pests, she mainly applies simple and safe methods such as using powdered lime, waterpipe tobacco, mouthwash, and unsweetened yogurt. Depending on the type of pest, she mixed according to her own ratio and recipe. Or diligently pruning leaves, leaving the tree open to the root will also limit many pests.

The garden of family affection

Phuong also confided: "The couple was born and raised in the countryside, so they really like that their 4 children have the opportunity to live close to nature, so when gardening, I often guide 4 children to work together. both to bond family affection, and to help children love nature, learn to love work, and limit their children's watching TV and phones."

Since having a garden, her 4 children have known to help their mother take care of the vegetable garden, by watering the plants, picking grass, and harvesting vegetables, the children understand how hard it is to have clean vegetables to eat. more important than labor. The children who were lazy to eat vegetables are now clearly interested in them, praising their mothers for their delicious cooking.

The garden becomes the favorite space of every family member.

In particular, during the time of separation because of the Covid-19 epidemic, the family garden is not only a place to provide clean food, but also designed by the couple to become a cozy space for the family to sit and chat. , chat, "0-dong tours" right in the garden for children to explore and have fun.
